Duties of the School Board:
The role of the Palestine ISD board is to govern the independent school district, as a body corporate, and shall oversee the management of the district. TEC 11.051(a)
Examples of the school board duties include: adopt goals and policies of the district and evaluate the results of those polices.
The role of the Palestine ISD superintendent is be the educational leader and chief executive officer of the school district TEC 11.201 (a)
Examples of the superintendent’s duties are the developing and implementing plans and monitoring the progress of those plans.
The PISD School Board meets on the Third Monday of each month. Should there be a school holiday on the third Monday, school board meetings are moved to either the third Thursday or fourth Monday.

Jeffrey Schwab, Vice President, Place 3
Jeffrey Schwab was born and raised in Palestine. He graduated from Palestine High School in 2005 where he was a member of the state golf team. He graduated from the University of Texas – Tyler in 2009 with a degree in finance. He is a Commercial Loan Officer for VeraBank in Palestine and has served on the William Ingram Scholarship Board Since 2014. He and his wife Courtney were married in September 2016 and they have three boys. He was elected to the school board in 2015.

Davi Killion Ingram, Place 5
Davi Killion Ingram was born and raised in Palestine and graduated from Palestine High School in 2001. She received her Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University in 2005, and earned her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University in 2009. She taught middle school English for 8 years in Austin, Plano, and Lake Jackson, Texas. She is an avid believer that every child can learn, and she is passionate about education.
This passion for children and education, along with her faith, led her to open Evangelistic Temple Learning Center (ETLC) in 2015. It is a Christian based learning center/daycare- facility open to the community for children six weeks to 12 years old. She currently serves on the board as the President of ETLC. She has also been involved with the Palestine Chamber of Commerce, serving as an ambassador and on the board of directors, as well as being a member of the Palestine Junior Service League. She owns and operates the family business, Killion’s Collision. She and her husband, Jonathan Ingram, have four children, Violet, Carly, Sam, and Jovi.

Dr. Michael Garcia, President, Place 2
Dr. Michael Garcia was elected to the PISD Board in May 2021. Dr. Garcia was raised in Houston. He received his Bachelor of Science from The University of Texas at Austin in 1994 and his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas at Galveston in 1999. He completed his Pediatric residency at the University of Texas at Houston in 2002 and began practicing as a Board Certified Pediatrician at Pediatric Associates in Palestine.
In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Garcia has coached youth soccer for more than 18 years and is the director for the East Texas Chapter of FC Dallas. Dr. Garcia is an advocate for children with developmental disabilities and in 2019 joined the Inclusion Education Task Force for National Down Syndrome Society, as well as, became a Board Member for Arc of Texas. Dr. Garcia and his wife have 4 children, a daughter-n-law and one grandchild.

Kurt Herrington, Place 4
Kurt Herrington was elected to the PISD Board in May 2016. Kurt was raised in Palestine and graduated from Palestine High School in 1998. Kurt graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2003. He also has an Associate degree of Applied Sciences from the Dallas Funeral Institute and is a licensed Mortician in the State of Texas. Kurt is the President of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home and Land of Memory Cemetery in Palestine. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Palestine and on the Building & Standards Committee for the City of Palestine. He and his wife Christi of 16 years have three boys who attend and will soon attend PISD schools.

Michael Bennett, Place 7
Michael Bennett was elected to the School Board in 2005. He has served at Board President four times. He has also served as Board Vice President. Bennett graduated from Palestine High School with honors in 1979, and graduated from Texas A&M in 1983 with an Agriculture Education Degree. Bennett works as a local financial adviser, and is a member of Triple S Cowboy Church. He and his wife, Stacy, have a daughter, Emma, who attends Texas A&M University.
