VOICE OF DEMOCRACY (VFW)

·         Eligibility: The Voice of Democracy is open to students in grades 9-12 who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions; or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools. Although U.S. citizenship is not required, students must be lawful U.S. permanent residents or have applied for permanent residence and intend to become a U.S. citizen at the earliest opportunity allowed by law.

AMERICAN LEGION HIGH SCHOOL ORATORICAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

·         Deadline: October 31, 2023

·         Eligibility: Eligible participants in the contest shall be citizens of or lawful permanent residents of the United States. All contestants must be students under the age of 20 years on the date of the national contest, and currently enrolled in a high school or junior high school, grades 7-12.

THE HAGAN SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: December 1, 2023

·         Eligibility: Must be a US citizen, graduating senior from a public high school with a GPA of 3.5 or higher enrolled at an eligible four-year college or university. Student must have regularly scheduled employment, working 240 hours from January 1, 2024 until the end of the fall semester 2024. Applicant’s 2022 Adjusted Gross Household Income must not exceed $85,000.

AG CHAMPS & MARSHA MARTIN SCHOLARSHIPS

·         Deadline: January 15, 2024

·         Eligibility: Must be a high school senior graduating in 2024, a member of FFA or 4-H, reside in Texas Farm Credit’s 100-county territory. High school transcript, resume, and essay are required. This application is for two scholarships.

EASTMAN CHEMICAL COMPANY SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: January 31, 2024

·         Eligibility: To be eligible for the scholarship, students must have graduated from an area-accredited high school and enrolled in one of the following validated programs at an Eastman Partner Technical College: Process Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical & Instrumentation, or Welding. The scholarship will be awarded during the student’s senior year, with the scholarship beginning the next fall semester. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

DIXIE YOUTH SOFTBALL SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: February 1, 2024

·         Eligibility: Must be a graduating high school senior attending a trade school, 2-year or 4-year college in the fall and played at least 2 seasons in a Dixie Youth Softball program.

HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW AND RODEO SCHOLARSHIPS APPLICATION

·         Deadline: February 7, 2024 at 7:59 p.m.

·         Eligibility: Must be a graduating high school senior, Texas resident and U.S. citizen, planning to attend an accredited, not-for-profit university in the state of Texas. ***UPDATE*** (Due to delays caused by soft launch of FAFSA) Instead of a finalized report, students must provide a copy of their submission confirmation showing their estimated Student Aid Index (SAI). Students may upload a copy of their confirmation email showing their estimated SAI.

HOUSTON COUNTY ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE, INC. - DOROTHY GOODRUM SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: Application must be postmarked by February 9, 2024

·         Eligibility: To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be a graduating high school senior whose parents/legal guardians maintain a permanent residence currently using the electrical lines of Houston County Electric Cooperative (HCEC). Membership must be in the name of the parents/legal guardians and must provide a copy of the member's HCEC bill.

·         Amount awarded: Scholarship awards are made possible by using unclaimed capital credit funds returned by the State of Texas each year. The number of scholarships and the amount awarded varies annually based on the unclaimed credit payments for that year.

CHRISTUS HEALTH - WOMEN WITH HEART SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: February 9, 2024

·         Eligibility: Any 2024 graduating senior, no GPA requirement

·        Students must create a short film with them related to heart health in women

TEXAS LEADERSHIP SCHOLARS PROGRAM

·         Deadline: February 14, 2024

·         Eligibility: Graduating high school senior from an accredited Texas high school; demonstrated financial need, as evidenced by FAFSA or TASFA (must be TEXAS Grant eligible); scholastic record and ability (Top 10% or nominated by a high school principal, counselor or teacher); evidence of leadership and service within your high school and community; accepted to a participating 4-year institution.

·         Amount awarded: The THECB provides a last dollar scholarship to cover the average cost of housing and food each year, up to the total cost of attendance (capped at need) when combined with federal, state, and institutional aid for four years. All decisions regarding eligibility of the TLS award and award amounts are made by the THECB.

EAST TEXAS PROFESSIONAL CREDIT UNION - MCLAUCHLIN SCHOLARSHIP

·         Eligibility: To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be a graduating high school senior planning to pursue a degree in education.

HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND

·         Deadline: February 15, 2024

·         Eligibility: Must be of Hispanic heritage; U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, or DACA; Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for high school students; minimum of 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for college and graduate students; Plan to enroll full-time in an accredited, public or not-for-profit, four-year university, or graduate school, in the U.S., for the 2024-2025 academic year; Submit the FAFSA or state-based financial aid forms (if applicable)

HERITAGE LAND BANK SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: February 16, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

·         Eligibility: Student must be a graduating high school senior attending a high school located in Heritage Land Bank's territory. Must be a current youth loan customer or have an immediate family member (Parent/Legal Guardian, Sibling or Grandparent) who is a current customer of Heritage Land Bank.

AUSTIN BANK SCHOLARSHIP

ANDERSON COUNTY YOUTH LIVESTOCK ASSOCIATION (ACYLA) SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: February 23, 2024

·         Eligibility: Must be a graduating high school senior; member of an Anderson County FFA or 4-H club; participated in the ACYLS at least 2 out of 4 years as a high school student. Mandatory interview on March 24, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the ACYLA Expo Meeting Room. Scholarship recipients will be expected to attend the awards ceremony at the Youth Livestock Pavilion on Thursday night, April 11, 2024 prior to premium auction/sale. Please wear proper attire.

 ANDERSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU 2024 SCHOLARSHIP

Must be a member of an Anderson County Farm Bureau Family (Father, Mother, Grandparent or Legal Guardian Membership) for at least a year prior to an award. DOWNTOWN ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: March 22, 2024

·         Eligibility: Student must be a graduating senior. students with exceptional academic achievements, dedication to extracurricular activities, leadership roles, or community service involvement, and admirable personal qualities.

If your parent or grandparent is a member of the Palestine Rotary Club or if you live in the household of a Palestine Rotary Club member, you are not eligible for a Palestine Rotary Scholarship.

HAVERLAH FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: March 22, 2024

·         Eligibility: Student must be a graduating senior in the top 10% of graduating class, and involved in extra-curricular activities and the community. Applicants must plan to attend a state certified public or private trade school, technical or vocational school, community college, junior college, college, university, post-graduate institution, or professional school in the state of Texas.

All scholarship disbursements shall be sent directly to the enrolled institution of the recipient.

JOHN & LEONA NUMSEN PRICE SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: March 22, 2024

·         Eligibility: Scholarships available to graduates of Palestine or Westwood High School; character, school involvement, community service and financial need are all considered.

PALESTINE NEGRO BUSINESS & PROFESSIONAL WOMEN'S CLUB, INC. SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: March 22, 2024

·         Eligibility: Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and the application must be typed. The scholarship will be awarded at the Annual Founders Day Banquet on Saturday, April 27th at noon. Please make arrangements to attend. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college or university the student is attending.

TRINITY VALLEY ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE (TVEC) SCHOLARSHIP

·         Eligibility: Students must be a graduating high school senior ranked in the top 20% whose parents/legal guardians maintain a permanent residence currently using the electrical lines of Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative (TVEC). Student must be enrolling in a full-time accredited institution of higher learning next fall.

THE DOGWOOD ARTS COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: March 29, 2024

·         Eligibility: Student must be a graduating senior with a passion for the arts, or planning pursue a degree in the arts.

ALTRUSA INTERNATIONAL OF ANDERSON COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: March 31, 2024

·         Eligibility: Student must be a high school senior with at least an overall B average.

Amount Awarded: Scholarship awards are made possible by proceeds received from annual fundraising events. The number of scholarships and amounts awarded are dependent on the amount of funds raised.

GEORGE AND CARRIE TOMLINSON SCHOLARSHIP - BRUSHY CREEK METHODIST CHURCH

·         Deadline: March 31, 2024

·         Eligibility: Student must be a graduating high school senior with a minimum 2.5 GPA; must be attending college (either a junior college, community college or a 4 year university) in the fall, taking at least 12 hours of course work; must be planning to pursue a career as a teacher, minister, nurse or engineer.

TEXAS TELEPHONE ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION (TTAF) SCHOLARSHIP

·         Eligibility: Student must be a high school senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA; must be a US citizen; must be attending a Texas college or university next fall.

CHAMPION ENERGY SERVICES SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: March 31, 2024

·         Eligibility: Must be a Texas resident in their senior year of high school, scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2024. Winners are not announced until May 10th.

KAILEE MILLS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: April 1, 2024

·         Eligibility: Student must be a high school senior or post-secondary undergraduate with a minimum 3.2 GPA, and a minimum 1050 SAT score or 20 ACT score. Student must also be a US citizen, currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university in a full-time (at least 12 hours) degree-seeking program for the first time.

Amount Awarded: Scholarships $5,000 and above will be distributed by semester in $5,000 increments. Any excess amount may be rolled over to the following semesters as long as the recipient requirements have been met. Awards under $5,000 will be a one-time distribution (if necessary, unused amounts may roll forward after meeting recipient requirements).

MULTI-CULTURAL EDUCATIONAL CENTER (MCEC) SCHOLARSHIP - EXCELLENCE AWARD

·         Deadline: April 1, 2024

·         Eligibility: Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and be accepted to one of the 107 historically black colleges or universities. Students applying must be in good standing, without disciplinary issues with PISD and not owe any outstanding fees for IT equipment or books. Students must have completed the 20 community service hours required for graduation. Application must be typed.

·         Eligibility: Student must be a high school senior in the state of Texas, planning to attend a accredited college, university or trade school in the US. Student must have developed creative anti-litter programs or events that have made a positive impact on their school or community. Student must be able to show the positive impact of their anti-littering efforts through reference letters from school or community leaders, school or community newspaper articles or news stories.

WALTER V. HANKLA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: April 2, 2024

·         Eligibility: Student must be a graduating high school senior who has been accepted into a college or university for enrollment next school year. Student must have at least an overall B average and demonstrate "excellence in Christian citizenship and math". Student must provide a letter of recommendation from a math teacher.

KIWANIS CLUB OF PALESTINE SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: April 7, 2024

·         Eligibility: Must be a resident of Anderson County and graduating from one of the following high schools: Palestine HS, Cayuga, Elkhart, Neches, Frankston, Slocum, and Westwood. This scholarship is designed to reward students who have not only excelled at their high school studies, but who have also demonstrated the desire to serve their community.

Amount Awarded: $1,000

PALESTINE JUNIOR SERVICE LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: April 11, 2024

·         Eligibility: Must be a high school senior attending school in Anderson County; must be a resident of Anderson County; must have an "A" average substantiated by an official school transcript; must be accepted and be planning to attend a state certified public or private trade school, technical or vocational school, community college junior college, or university in the Fall of 2024.

PALESTINE ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: April 12, 2024

·         Eligibility: Student must be an Anderson County resident and Anderson County graduating senior.

·         Students must request this scholarship application from Mrs. Tice in the library.

ANDERSON COUNTY A&M CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: April 12, 2024

·         Eligibility: Student must be an Anderson County high school senior, planning to attend Texas A&M in the fall.

·         Students must request this scholarship application from Mrs. Tice in the library.

TVCC RED BIRD SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: April 15, 2024

·         Eligibility: Must be a graduating high school senior planning to attend TVCC Athens next fall. Red Bird leaders will be able to take two leadership courses for college credit and gain valuable leadership experience and skills that help build a resume. Red Birds work in the Recruiting and Admissions office, giving campus tours, greeting guests at the front desk, assisting with recruiting visits to their home high schools, attending school events, and helping wherever needed.

Amount Awarded: $1, 750+/year (covers approximately 12 credit hours/semester and books)

LONG INDUSTRIES SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: April 26, 2024

·         Eligibility: Must be a 2024 graduating senior at Palestine High School with plans to attend a university, college, or trade school. Student must also be currently enrolled or active in an Ag Mechanics.

Amount Awarded: $1, 000

DEDMAN ESSAY COMPETITION & SCHOLARSHIP

·         Deadline: April 30, 2024

·         Eligibility: Must be a current high school sophomore or junior; contest requires applicants to submit a 750-800 word essay.

Amount Awarded: $1,500, $1,000, $500, and two $250 awards

PALESTINE MASONIC LODGE & E. LEE STEEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

·         Deadline: May 6, 2024

·         Eligibility: Must be a graduating high school senior from Palestine HS or Westwood HS who is attending a trade school or community college for a certificate or degree in a career field.
